What Kind of Romantic Lover Are You?

According to a new study of young adults in love, there are four types of romantic lovers, as measured through changes in hormones and neurotransmitter levels. Mild lovers (20% of participants) showed the lowest intensity, obsessive thinking, and sexual frequency in their relationships, while moderate lovers (41%) had relatively low intensity and obsessive thinking but higher commitment. Intense lovers (29%) exhibited high emotional and sexual engagement, and libidinous lovers (10%) had sex 10–20 times per week.

PAs May Gain More Independence in MA

Montana isn’t the only β€˜M’ state looking to enact physician assistant expansionsβ€”Massachusetts is joining them. As in many other states, Massachusetts requires PAs to have physician supervision. But, a proposed bill seeks to remove that requirement and grant PAs more independence, potentially improving access to care and reducing wait times. Some patients welcome faster appointments that the scope of practice expansion could provide, but some still prefer seeing a doctor for serious concerns.

Digital Flavors Coming Your Way

Virtual reality is about to get more real. Scientists have now developed β€œe-Taste,” a device that digitally recreates and shares flavors by analyzing taste compounds and delivering them through a chemical-based system. It successfully replicates sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami flavors but struggles with spiciness and fattiness. e-Taste could also have potential health-related applications, including some in biomedical research, sensory testing, and physical rehabilitation. With other researchers also working towards digital odor transmissions, we could soon have virtual reality that engages all the senses.

Break Room or Burn Book? Navigating Gossip at Work

The break roomβ€”a sacred place for caffeine consumption, collective β€œomgs”, and rapid-fire venting. But sometimes, harmless chatter turns into gossip, and suddenly, your β€œquick snack” feels like an episode of Grey’s Anatomy: Middle School Edition.

Venting can be healthy, and bonding over shared struggles can feel like much-needed community. But, when conversations become a cycle of complaining, tearing people down, or brewing drama, it stops being an outlet and gets exhausting. Constant negativity fuels burnout, and no one needs extra emotional baggage when they’re already running on fumes.

So, how do you navigate it? Shift the convo (β€œSo anyway, what’s everyone watching?”), excuse yourself (β€œGotta go drink my third iced coffee and pee”), orβ€”if it’s really toxicβ€”set a boundary (β€œHey, I don’t love talking about coworkers like this”). Energy is precious. Protect yours. Choose your seat at the table wisely. 💛
