Nursing Educator Shortage |
The ongoing nursing shortage is exacerbated by a lack of nurse educators, limiting nursing schoolsβ ability to enroll and graduate enough skilled professionals, a new report found. Consequences of this shortage include overwhelming workloads for current faculty, a reliance on adjuncts and clinical instructors with less experience, gaps between education and practice, and graduates with underdeveloped soft skills (like communication and empathy), and poor emotional resilience.

Remember Lucy Letby, the UK nurse convicted of killing seven babies in her neonatal unit? A panel of medical experts now claims she may be wrongly convicted, arguing the babiesβ deaths resulted from natural causes or medical errors. Her defense has submitted a case citing these new findings to the Criminal Cases Review Commission. This isnβt the first time experts have suggested
there may be alternate causes for the deaths.
