Savvy Scheduling |
More and more hospitals are discovering a secret weapon in attracting and retaining young nursesβand possibly even bringing back ones who have left. The secret is self-scheduling, an option that El Camino Health in California and Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey are both trying out. A recent survey by the American Nurses Foundation revealed that 41% of new nurses and 25% of mid-tenure nurses wanted a self-scheduling option. Guess how many experienced nurses wanted it?

Will Measles Return? |
The US officially eliminated measles in 2000, meaning the only cases here originated outside the US. However, that status may be threatened due to a current rise in measles cases and outbreaks, including a growing Chicago outbreak. Nearly a third of all U.S. measles cases since January 2020 occurred in the first three months of 2024, notes a new CDC report, and over half of those cases were hospitalized for isolation or management of complications.

Fortunately, the Federal Trade Commission isnβt messing around regarding going after companies that share data without patientsβ consent. In February, the FTC moved against GoodRx for leaking health data to Facebook and Google. Next on its hit list is the telehealth addiction service Monument for similar violations.
