Good Morning, Readers!

Welcome back for another edition of weird medical practices from history.Β

In the 1950s, doctors would infect syphilisΒ patients with malaria, believing that the fever accompanying the malaria infection would kill off the syphilis. Believe it or not, it worked! Thankfully we have Benzathine penicillin G to cure syphilis today! Β

What Can Potential Employers Not Ask in a Job Interview?

Job interviews are hard. You want to share all your best qualities to make you attractive as an applicant. However, there are certain aspects about yourself that you do not ever have to discuss in an interview, as certain topics are protected by the law.Β

It is not appropriate for an interviewer to ask direct questions about your:Β Β

  • Race or ethnicity

  • Family status

  • Sexual identity

  • Age

  • Disability status

  • National originΒ

  • Religion

  • Arrest record

However, there are ways that interviewers may legally ask questions surrounding those topics. Know your rights. Practice with an interview coach. Be prepared to navigate difficult questions in your next nurse interview.
