Oncology Nurse Program Shows Promise |
To address oncology nurse shortages and high turnover rates, the US Oncology Network launched the Oncology Core Education and Networking (OCEAN) program last year. It supports new nurses with 22.5 hours of interactive virtual training on 12 core cancer care areas, improving knowledge by 70% and fostering collaboration. Cold Plunges vs. Hot Baths |
Cold plunges are all the rage but how do they compare with hot baths? A small study shared at the Integrative Physiology of Exercise Conference found hot soaks may enhance
recovery and performance better than ice baths for activities requiring quick recovery, such as halftime breaks. After intense running, participants who soaked in 104Β°F water jumped higher than those using 59Β°F ice baths. Hot water boosts blood flow and muscle repair, while ice baths can reduce soreness and relieve injuries, but may tighten muscles.Β

Human Cell Atlas Milestone |
Human Cell Atlas researchers have developed an early map of the human bodyβs estimated 37.2 trillion cells. Detailed in a series of studies, the atlas
focuses on cells in organs such as the mouth, stomach, intestines, and those involved in bone and joint development, aiming to understand how cells group into tissues and change over time. Scientists are working on a more comprehensive atlas, expected to be completed by 2026, that will cover 18 organs and systems, as well as separate brain and gut microbiome atlases.

The Secret to Workplace Joy |
An βUplift Listβ is a collection of moments, experiences, or interactions that brightened your day and can remind you of why you do what you do. This list reminds us of the joy in our profession and the moments we felt like we made a difference.Β
Make It Accessible. Do what works for youβa cute notebook, your notes app, or even a voice memo works.
Capture Joyful Moments. Throughout or after your shift, write down anything that made you happy/fulfilled. This could be a heartfelt patient interaction, a compliment from a colleague, or a skill you mastered.
Reflect. Set aside time at the end of each week (or after a hard shift) to read through your entries. This helps reinforce the positive experiences and can improve mood and bandwidth.
Creating an βUplift Listβ helps put joyful thoughts and gratitude on autopilot. Use this to shift your mindset away from stressors and decrease feelings of burnout!
