Tips to Stick to Your Exercising Resolutions

Itโ€™s a new year and if youโ€™re like many other Americans, exercising more is a top goal for 2025. But, in general, resolutions rarely last and less than 10% of people accomplish their goals. To make this one stick, try setting specific, realistic exercise goals; starting small to build momentum; and scheduling workouts in advance to form lasting habits. Visual reminders and simple tracking methods can also help maintain accountability, and making fitness part of your identity may increase your long-term commitment to it.

Insurers Question Medical Necessity of Prosthetic Limbs

In another head-scratcher from insurance companies, KFF reports that insurance coverage for prosthetic limbs often faces limitations, but the same isnโ€™t true for joint replacements. Many insurers impose caps or restrictions on prosthetic devices and deny coverage based on questionable medical necessity. Some state laws require insurers to cover prosthetics, but people with private insurance plans, which are not regulated by state law, are still at risk. This often forces patients to take out loans or enter payment plans, with some facing repossession of unpaid devices.

Health Systemโ€™s $1 Lease Renewed, With Caveats

CarolinaEast Health System has renewed its lease with Craven County for its CarolinaEast Medical Center. The total? Just $1 in base rentโ€ฆalong with another $450,000 annually for mental and public health services. But the county and health system are butting heads. While county officials say the larger payment will ease ER strain and prevent a bond violation, CarolinaEast raised financial concerns, noting the county already has opioid settlement funds and independent appraisals returned with sums much lower than $450,000.

Meet Debriefing the Front Lines

In the spirit of the new year, I wanted to re-introduce myself.ย

In March of 2020, while working as an Assistant Professor at Towson University, I began to receive calls from former students and colleagues in need of a safe space outside of their affiliated workplace to express their emotionsโ€”free of judgment.ย

I knew I had to act. Sixteen days after a global pandemic was declared, one-by-one, I began Debriefing the Front Lines. I kept going, until alone was no longer enough. Enter Kacie and Michelle.ย
