From Fingerprints to βBreath Printsβ |
Scientists have known for more than three centuries that we can be identified by the unique patterns of our fingerprints. Then, in the 20th century, researchers discovered DNA analysis, how to identify people by the unique iris patterns in their eyes, and that even the way we walk can uniquely identify us. Now scientists have found a new biometric unique to each person: our βbreath print.β Check out what our breathing patterns can reveal about our health.

An NP Shares Her Calling |
Delaware nurse practitioner Debra Lynch isnβt exactly one-of-a-kind, but sheβs one of only a few dozen U.S. providers whoβs dedicated to the risky work of prescribing abortion pills to people in states with bans. Currently, 13 states have total bans and 28 have gestational restrictions, but Lynch lives in one of the 22 states with shield laws that protect providers offering abortion care via telemedicine. Read what a day in the life is like for Lynch.

The Nurse Who Was a Spy |
Marthe Cohn was many things in her life: French, Jewish, short, a nurse, and fluent in German. Put all those together and you have the recipe for her most dangerous role of allβa spy who deceived the Nazis in World War II and passed their military secrets to the Allies. Cohn passed away at age 105 last month, but her story lives on in her 2002 memoir Behind Enemy
Lines and the documentary Chichinette: The Accidental Spy.

Nurses Bet on GenAIβWith Caution |
|
A recent Wolters Kluwer survey shows nurses are leading the charge on generative AI, claiming they are βthe most ready and willing to see how GenAI can work for them.β Nearly halfβ45%βsay GenAI can help slash burnout by handling repetitive tasks.
Hereβs the catch: just 18% report formal GenAI policies at workβlike giving meds without a script. And theyβre not blind to risk. A majority (57%) worry overreliance could erode clinical judgment.
Nurses are eager. Burnout? Check. Efficiency? Check. But tools without guardrails? Thatβs a disaster waiting to happen.
Bottom line: nurses donβt want GenAI to run their shiftsβthey want it to power them. But first, policy, training, and a clear playbook are needed. Because ready doesnβt mean reckless.
