Premature baby Ella has found a new home with the nurses who cared for her in the NICU. Born at 23 weeks at just over a pound, Ella needed intensive medical care, including blood transfusions, a tracheostomy, and a gastrostomy button, eventually becoming a ward of Nebraska. Nurses Taylor and Drew Deras would snuggle and read to Ella during their downshifts, and they later offered to foster Ella, who didn’t have a stable home to live in. With Ella’s biological mother's blessing, the Deras have officially adopted Ella.
