Optum, the telehealth and urgent care clinic chain owned by UnitedHealth was already expected to announce a round of layoffs, including nurses, but it wasnβt clear how many might be cut. Now it appears the company will be eliminating all registered nursing positions from its nearly 150 MedExpress clinics across the US and cutting other positions. The startling news has prompted an online petition to reverse the decision. So far, Optum has neither confirmed nor denied the news.

Is It Misinformation or Not?Β

No one doubts that misinformation has become one of the biggest global health threats, ranked high alongside vaccine hesitancy and antibiotic resistance. But part of the challenge of addressing it is that so many people canβt identify it. A new Kaiser Family Foundation poll found that around half to three-quarters of Americans werenβt unsure whether certain false claims were valid, revealing average Americansβ susceptibility and vulnerability to spurious health claims.
