Support for Gender-Affirming Care
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) board of directors voted unanimously last Thursday to reaffirm the organization’s 2018 position statement and recommendations on gender-affirming care for gender-diverse children and adolescents. The vote comes when a “historic wave of anti-LGBTQ laws” has swept the nation, many of which attempt to restrict gender-affirming care options for trans and non-binary youth. The AAP board also voted to provide pediatricians with additional reports and review research on gender-affirming care.

Third Time’s a Charm
Leticia Gallarzo, age 48, could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted of identity fraud after allegedly using a stolen Michigan licensing number to get a job at a hospice facility. But this isn’t her first offense: her fingerprints matched those of a woman who
previously served time after pleading guilty to practicing nursing without a license in Texas in 2015 and 2016. Gallarzo also claimed to have a George Washington University master’s degree in nursing.
