Hello Nurses! |
Today we celebrate Doctorβs Day, which officially falls on Sunday, March 30th. Any bedside nurse knows the value of a solid doctor-nurse relationship, and when each respects the other, our patients get the best care possible! (And it makes going to work that much nicerβ¦)
To honor the docs we know and love, we interviewed Dr. Claire Massagee Lanier, MD, who gave some compelling insights into her experiences with nurses and how we can better bridge the doctor-nurse divide. Read the full interview, and tell us about your relationships with physician coworkers.

Nurses: Your Diet May Slow Aging |
A 30-year study published in Nature Medicine observed 105,015 nurses and other healthcare professionals and found adherence to healthy dietary patternsβespecially the Alternative Healthy Eating Indexβwas strongly linked to higher odds of healthy aging, defined as living to 70+ years without chronic disease and with good cognitive, physical, and mental health. Diets rich in plant-based foods, whole grains, nuts, and low-fat dairy promoted healthy aging, while trans fats, sodium, sugary drinks, and processed meats had negative effects.

Signs Your Viewing Habits Might Be Harming You |
While some people find watching intense TV shows and movies thrilling, others may experience stress that can linger well after the entertainment has concluded. Dramatic or violent content, in particular, can trigger anxiety, increase cortisol levels, and even impact your mental health. Signs your viewing habits are negatively impacting you include sleep disturbances, obsessive
thoughts, worsened mood, and difficulty functioning normally. Experts recommend balancing intense content with lighter fare and being mindful of when and how you watch.

Whatβs the Deal With Lymphatic Massages?Β |
Lymphatic massage, often marketed in wellness spaces with terms like βsculptβ and βdetox,β is frequently promoted as a natural way to reshape the body, but its original purpose was to treat lymphedema. While research supports its effectiveness for medical conditions, thereβs little evidence backing claims that it leads to weight loss or detoxification. Itβs not a universal fix for bloating or swelling, and certain health conditions, like heart disease or blood clots, may make it unsafe.
