🤔 This disease is caused from a tick bite where the tick carries the R. rickettsii bacterium. 

🤔 Common symptoms include a rash that develops approximately three to five days after a fever appears, chills, extreme fatigue, and muscle pain. 

🤔 The rash is most commonly found on the wrists and ankles and may spread to the trunk and other areas of the body.

Record Shortages

According to pharmacists, there's a record number of drug shortages in the US. The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists reports 323 active shortages, surpassing the previous high 320 in 2014. Growing demand, manufacturing issues, and poor business decisions are to blame for some shortages, though reasons are unclear in most cases. Shortages affect everything from cancer treatments to ADHD medications. While the Department of Health and Human Services offered recommendations to address shortages, the ASHP criticized them as potentially penalizing hospitals already struggling.

Nurses Working Remotely

Driven by cost savings and the desire to offer flexibility to nurses, HCA Healthcare is expanding its use of remote nurses, with about 40 currently working from home for 15 hospitals. Remote nurses can maintain privacy and focus on their tasks effectively, allowing HCA to tap into a larger pool of nursing talent across multiple states where the health system operates. A First in Hawai’i

Waipahu High School on Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi, and Hawaiʻi Pacific Health inaugurated the 1,900-square-foot Academic Health Center, the first high school-based clinic in the US. HPH OB-GYNs and University of Hawaiʻi physicians will oversee the clinic, which features four exam rooms and one treatment room. Students can shadow physicians and gain experience across administrative and clinical roles, helping to provide care while directly learning from experts.

Illegal Things You Should Know About Remote Nursing Jobs

As a nurse, knowing the basics about your employment rights can help you stand up for yourself at the right times and know what you deserve. Michael Cummings, an attorney and assistant professor at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, shares that wrongful termination is a major legal issue with employees.

Even if you work in an at-will state, where your employer can terminate your employment at any time, your employer cannot fire you for an illegal reason, like discrimination or retaliation. 

Examples include:

• Being terminated after returning from FMLA leave

• Losing your job when your employer discovers your pregnancy

• Being dismissed after reporting a workplace assault
