Rural Cervical Cancer Cases Rising |
Of all the cancers that afflict us, cervical cancer is perhaps the most preventable, both because of the highly effective screening tests we have and the HPV vaccine, which prevents 90% of
cancers caused by HPV, of which the most common is cervical cancer. Yet, a new study has found cervical cancer cases and deaths, which began declining in 2001, have been increasing in rural counties since 2012. These results suggest lower access to care in rural areas.

How To Stay Safe at Work |
According to a 2019 ANA Survey, one in four nurses reported being physically assaulted while on shift. Workplace violence is underreported, so these statistics are likely much higher. With the recent events in Pennsylvania and Florida, it is important for nurses and other healthcare workers (HCWs) to know their rights and resources to support a safe work environment:Β
We have the right to a safe workplace, and we must work together to change unsafe systems and hold perpetrators accountable for their actions.Β
