Do you trust that your employer will prioritize patient safety when implementing AI tools? If you said “no,” you’re in line with some 60% of nurses surveyed by National Nurses United. Over 2,300 nurses reported concerns about unregulated AI technologies, such as predictive staffing models and computer-generated patient reports, undermining clinical judgment and care quality. Weight-loss miracles aside, drugs like Wegovy and Ozempic could save millions of lives by dramatically reducing risks of heart attack and stroke. But they could also bankrupt the US healthcare system unless their prices are slashed, according to a report from Senate Health Committee Chair Bernie Sanders. Interestingly, the insane drug prices from Novo Nordisk, manufacturer of Wegovy and Ozempic, seem reserved for Americans — Wegovy is $1349/month in the US vs. just $92/month in the UK, while Ozempic (for Type 2 diabetes) is $969/month in the US vs $59/month in Germany!

Restaurant Overdose Training

At the Big Night Live concert venue in Boston, bar and restaurant workers received training on administering naloxone to reverse opioid overdoses, as well as basic first aid. The effort was spearheaded by the Stepping Strong Center, dedicated to helping prevent avoidable accidents, and it makes a lot of sense. Drug overdose is the leading cause
of accidental death in the US — and close to one-fifth of US hospitality workers have a substance use disorder, making it crucial for them to know how to quickly respond to an overdose.

One LPN in California describes how her job prefers to hire LPNs. “It’s been a struggle for management to hire RNs because a lot of them have a hard time transitioning from bedside to just sitting in an office. So there’s a lot of LPNs in this line of work.”
One California LPN is a remote case management auditor. Her job entails:
Working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday
Performing one clinical audit per day with a decent amount of flexibility
Working with RNs on necessary cosigns required by state and federal regulations
