More RN jobs coming to nursing homes!

Last month, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced new minimum staffing standards for nursing homes, increasing RN jobs at long-term care facilities. 

The new minimum staffing standards for long-term care facilities increases the total nurse staffing standard to direct care hours provided by RNs and nurse aides for each resident per day. The new standard also requires facilities to have an RN on site 24/7 to provide skilled nursing care. 

That means more RN jobs will be coming to long-term care facilities across the United States. But when? 

The implementation timing is staggered over several years and is based on facility location, and there will be exemptions available for facilities facing unique staffing challenges. 

According to KFF, based on current staffing levels, only an estimated 1 in 5 long-term care facilities will be able to comply with the new requirements. But, make no mistake, the jobs are coming.
