The Value of Storytelling |
Happiness is often seen as a goal, but psychology suggests it’s really a bridge between meaning and purpose, with the stories we tell ourselves connecting them. Meaning comes from the stories we tell about our past, especially through struggle and loss, while purpose arises from how we act on those stories. Storytelling transforms pain into insight, anchors our values, and helps us connect with others. One of the best—and most psychologically helpful—ways to develop your story is through expressive writing. Learn how it works. |

New Surgeon General Nominated |
Donald Trump has nominated Dr. Casey Means, a wellness influencer with ties to RFK Jr., as Surgeon General after withdrawing his nomination for Fox News medical contributor Janette Nesheiwat. A Stanford-trained surgeon who dropped out of her residency program, Means is known for promoting holistic health, linking processed foods and diet to “almost every chronic health symptom," and questioning aspects of vaccine safety. She co-founded a health tech company and supports Trump’s “Make America Healthy Again” agenda. If confirmed, Means would help lead major health policy reforms. |

The Medical Gaslighting of Women |
Many women seeking care for vulvovaginal disorders face gaslighting and dismissive treatment from healthcare providers, often leading them to abandon care, a new study found. Surveying 447 patients, researchers found that over 40% were told to “just relax,” nearly 20% were advised to drink alcohol, and many said they were made to “feel crazy” or were referred to psychiatry without medical treatment. Experts say the findings highlight widespread undertreatment of women’s pain and emphasize the importance of listening and empathy in medical care. |

MYSTERY Dx MINUTE WITH NURSE KEL |
Mystery Diagnosis Minute |
Hey everyone! In continuation of our recognition of national Mental Health Awareness Month, today’s mystery diagnosis is, unfortunately, another disorder that is on the rise among nurses.
🩺 This disorder can develop in nurses when they feel as if they are not receiving the appropriate support in their workplaces, or if they are continually bogged down with work in which they are unable to see meaningful changes.
🩺 Nurses who have this disorder often try to rationalize their behavior as a way of coping with their stressful jobs and to cope with daily life.
🩺 This disorder can develop in nurses who have a genetic deficiency in their innate neurotransmitters, like dopamine and serotonin.
