Crisis Line Fears |
|
A recent STAT article noted that the 988 national mental health hotline is one year old and still has some kinks to work out. But the bigger problem is raising awareness and increasing people’s trust — including addressing concerns about police involvement. Only one in five people trust the hotline “a great deal” in a recent poll, and 60% feared police intervention could harm them or a loved one. Yet only 2% of cases involve dispatching a mobile crisis unit. |

Pilfering Prescriptions

In Pennsylvania, nurse Brittany Eisenhauer replaced oxycodone with other drugs to keep the medication for herself. And in Tennessee, nursing home nurse Anthony Littlejohn lost his license for stealing hundreds of doses of prescription drugs and selling them. |

A recent Twitter user noted that “‘We should start a podcast together’ is the modern day ‘We should start a band.’” But it’s less expensive to start a podcast, and the only venue you need is your own home. There are some great nursing podcasts out there — check these out — but there’s always room for more nursing voices. Are you interested in getting started? Check out this guide for what you need to know. |
