For managing stress and anxiety and boosting creativity, more Americans are turning to microdosing psychedelics like psilocybin or LSD. They report overall improved well-being and profound personal benefits, without the hallucinatory high—some research backs this claim, while others suggest the placebo effect may be at work. Some states, including Oregon, Colorado, and potentially Iowa, are easing restrictions, but the drugs remain illegal in most places, and experts warn about purchasing unregulated products that may contain harmful substances.

The Pope’s Nurse |
Experienced Italian nurse Massimiliano Strappetti served as the personal caregiver for the late Pope Francis from August 2022 until the pope’s death on Easter Monday. Strappetti developed a close and trusted bond with the Holy Father, accompanying him on international journeys and assisting during public appearances, including Pope Francis’ final Easter address. Previously credited by the pope for helping save his life during a 2021 colon surgery, Strappetti was instrumental in making key medical decisions about the religious figure’s failing health.

Icebucket Challenge: The Return |
In 2014, the “Icebucket Challenge” became a viral sensation supporting ALS research. The trend has now returned, this time with a new mission: raising awareness for mental health. Spearheaded by Wade Jefferson, a college student who founded a mental health club called MIND (Mental Illness Needs Discussion), the revived challenge encourages participants to post
videos of themselves getting doused with ice water—with #SpeakYourMIND—and donate to Active Minds, a youth-focused mental health nonprofit. It’s raised over $300,000 so far.
