Nurses play significant roles throughout burn care and recovery, and now you can get certified to improve your expertise in burn treatment. The Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing has launched its Certified Burn Registered Nurse burn nursing specialty certification. Earning the burn certification requires passing a “rigorous national exam” spanning everything from prehospital care and initial management to aftercare and reintegration to psychosocial patient and family support.

iPhone Assessments

In a move that will hopefully increase the number of adults getting help for mental health issues, depression, and anxiety assessments are now integrated into the iPhone. With iOS 17, Apple users can log their emotions and moods using the Health app on the iPhone or iPad and the Mindfulness app on the Apple Watch. They can complete mental health assessments, including the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, or PHQ-9, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7, or GAD-7, on the Health app.

The US is notoriously bad at providing nutritious meals to public school students thanks to weak standards that count pizza sauce and french fries as vegetables. Now, students around the country may soon be seeing a new ultra-processed item on the menu, Lunchables, after Kraft Heinz altered two of its
products to qualify under the National School Lunch Program rules. Thankfully, not all school districts are jumping on board — some look poorly on the product’s high sodium content and other nutritional deficiencies while others balk at the price tag.
