Woman Impersonating a Nurse Tries to Discharge Patients

While a patient at Erlanger Baroness Hospital in Chattanooga, Lydia Brock wandered into the room of an 85-year-old man with dementia. She told him she was his nurse and he was being discharged and removed his monitoring equipment and IV. She tried to do the same with another patient before the patient’s family stopped her. She has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of abuse of a vulnerable adult, two counts of reckless endangerment, two counts of impersonation of a licensed professional, and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

El Camino Health Nurses Reach Contract Deal

The Professional Resources for Nurses union has approved a tentative deal with El Camino Health in California. The union — representing non-administrative, non-management, non-supervisory registered nurses — approved a three-year contract with a “historic” pay increase of 16%. About 77% of voting members approved the deal, which is set to go into effect on July 1st. The contract also addresses overtime and extra shifts, the clinical nurse ladder process, workplace violence, and night shifts before jury duty.

The Issues With Using ChatGPT in Healthcare

Artificial intelligence language models like ChatGPT hold a lot of promise for healthcare, but they also hold a lot of challenges, CIOs told Becker’s. For one thing, the data is not real-time — it’s currently sourced through Sept. 2021. It also has the real potential to provide racist and discriminatory content. There’s also some concern about ChatGPT’s access to personal health information, which could be misused or mishandled, and that there’s no regulation for how it’s used in healthcare.
