RaDonda Vaught Headed to Costa Rica with Other Nurses

After her conviction for a medication error that resulted in a woman’s death at Vanderbilt, RaDonda Vaught hasn’t spoken much with the media. But she is comfortable speaking with her colleagues, especially given how many nurses supported her and organizations like the American Nursing Association called her conviction a “dangerous
precedent.” Vaught will join a seven-day “healing” trip to Costa Rica hosted by influencer “Nurse Erica.” Nurses can apply to register for the $2,500 trip through the end of July.

Nearly Half of Nurses Report “Culture of Racism”

Nurses of color are excluded in the workplace “Every. Single. Day,” according to one nurse who spoke with Becker’s about the experience of being a nurse of color. Other conversations focused on what nurses of color want white nurses to know. Two sets of discussions arose after findings from a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation survey found that nearly 80% of nurses have witnessed or experienced discrimination from patients, and 60% have from colleagues.
