Paws to Reflect
Geisinger Paws to Reflect combines peer support with animal-assisted therapy. Their winning Pitch-A-Thon solution funded the training of six furry therapists β certified pet therapy dogs β who now partner with peer supporters, bringing smiles and stress relief to nurses across the system.
Dear Hospital
Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) developed a program called Dear Hospital. This program uses storytelling and photography to strengthen connections between staff members, to improve morale, and reduce turnover. The grant funded the training for staff members to become storytellers, allowing them to share their experiences and build a stronger sense of community within CHOC.
AutoChart
A team from Vancouver Coastal Health developed AutoChart, an AI-enabled documentation solution that uses natural language processing to capture bedside patient assessments. It transcribes speech to text in real-time and uploads organized keywords to Cerner for nurse review. It also auto-generates handoff information and shift summaries, saving up to 10 minutes per patient per 24-hour shift. With the grant funding they received, the team plans to develop, pilot, and validate their software solution - anticipating major savings for health systems and increased staff satisfaction. |
