NICU Babies in Red, White, and Blue
In the spirit of the Fourth, nurses at Regional One Health in Memphis, Tennessee, dressed NICU babies in crocheted red, white, and blue outfits. Click here to see the adorable little ones, including twins in mirroring blue and red outfits. Fourth festivities in the
NICU aren’t uncommon. Nurses at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois, dressed up their NICU babes in 2018, complete with miniature American flags.

Hospital Reflects on Shooting
The Fourth is usually a time for celebration, but it’s also somewhat somber for Illinois’s Highland Park Hospital staff who responded to last year’s city parade mass shooting. Emergency Room Clinical Nurse Manager James Thompson had just sat down for a holiday breakfast with
his family when his phone rang with the news. Despite the horror of the event, triage was “organized and calm” because of past drills and practice. Read how the staff prepared themselves for that day’s tragedy.

Nearly a Dozen Pregnant Nurses
Talk about something to celebrate! Ten nurses, one nurse practitioner, and a unit secretary are all welcoming new babies this year at Riverside Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia. All of them were pregnant before March earlier this year, and three babies have now been born, according to WRIC. Four are expected in July, three in August, and one each in September and October. See adorable photos at Today, and read more about past hospital clusters of pregnancies.

AI Pharmaceuticals
As healthcare professionals, we’ve witnessed the remarkable evolution of medical technology, and now, artificial intelligence (AI) is leading a revolutionary change in pharmaceuticals. Insilico Medicine, with its pioneering work using AI, has resulted in a potential drug for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, now in Phase 2 trials in America and China.
The marvel of AI doesn’t stop at discovery. It’s significantly accelerating the process, reducing a six-year timeline to just 18 months and doing so at a fraction of the cost. AI isn’t just expediting pharmaceutical discovery. It’s reshaping it entirely, creating solutions previously unimagined. Much like American freedom, AI in drug discovery represents liberation from traditional constraints, propelling us towards a future of untapped potential in healthcare.
