Outrage at NSF |
The National Science Foundation has fired 168 workers, which includes not only the probationary staff they were instructed to fire but also many program managers and experts. This has sparked outrage and confusion, leading to scathing agency-wide emails as workers accuse leadership of betraying their trust and failing to stand up for them. Calls for top officials to
resign followed, with frustration mounting over the agencyβs handling of the situation. The NSF, however, is expected to fire up to half of its 1,500-person workforce.

Texas officials, like those in other states with abortion bans, have avoided reviewing recent maternal deaths.

Baby Undergoes Open Heart Surgery During Delivery |
Megan Wildβs son, Luciano, was born through a groundbreaking procedure where doctors performed open-heart surgery mid-delivery. Diagnosed in utero with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and additional complications, his survival depended on an ex-utero intrapartum treatment (EXIT) procedure, during which a baby is partially delivered and still attached to the umbilical
cord while surgeons operate. This critical procedure at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital allowed Luciano to be born safely and later undergo further heart surgeries. Now six weeks old, he continues to recover, offering hope for future cases.
