Stress from Miscommunication |
Having a child admitted to the hospital can be very stressful for a parent. And a significant part of that stress for many parents stems from a perceived miscommunication with clinicians, a new study suggests. Researchers found that 16.5% of parents reported miscommunication issues, such as inconsistent or delayed information, which correlated with higher stress,
perceived illness severity, and lower family functioning. Showing empathy, avoiding medical jargon, and actively listening to questions and concerns can help improve communication with patients.

Faux Nurse, Faux Botox |
A woman in Massachusetts is being charged for allegedly administering counterfeit Botox to her spa clients. Authorities say Rebecca Fadanelli, who ran Skin BeautΓ© Med Spa, posed as a nurse and administered fillers imported from China and Brazil, earning over $933,000 since 2021. Fadanelli denies the charges. The CDC has warned of health risks linked to fake Botox, which has caused adverse reactions across multiple states.

Foods to Reduce Colorectal Cancer Risk |
To lower your risk of colorectal cancer risk, one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers, consider changing your diet. Gastroenterologists recommend following a Mediterranean-style diet, which research suggests can reduce your risk by 18 percent. Swap sugary beverages with sparkling water, processed or red meat with fish, refined grains with whole grains, and cocktails with mocktails. Also keep in mind the link between colorectal cancer and obesity, and that GLP-1 agonists can reduce colorectal cancer risk in people with Type 2 diabetes.
