Where Are We with Burnout? |
Healthcare worker burnout was a problem before the pandemic, but Covid brought the issue front and center like never before. Has there been progress since then? A little, suggests a new study—especially among nurses. RNs experienced one of the biggest drops in burnout, from 46% in 2020 to 24% in 2023. LPNs also saw a drop from 36% to 25%. But numbers are still higher than pre-pandemic, so the problem needs ongoing
attention.

Autism Orgs Band Together |
Federal health officials have axed the idea of creating an “autism registry,” but that suggestion is just one of many that has autism advocates worried about developing federal health policy on the issue. In a remarkable letter that brought together over 40 advocacy
organizations—including some who have historically opposed one another—autism and disability advocates argued against Health Secretary Robert Kennedy’s “stigmatizing” rhetoric calling autism an “epidemic” that needs to be “prevented.”

The Threat of DNA Hackers |
The development of Next-generation DNA sequencing (NGS) has been revolutionizing medicine, from identifying genetic disorders to precision medicine to transforming cancer management. But, inevitably, there’s a downside. Many DNA datasets are openly accessible online, and that means they can be hacked by cybercriminals who might “misuse the information for surveillance, manipulation, or malicious experimentation.” That’s the warning in a new article that calls for protection against cyber-biosecurity threats.

Leading, Lifting, and Belonging: Honoring Nurses Week |
As National Nurses Week 2025 (May 6–12) approaches, here’s a reminder: this week isn’t just about celebrating our teams—it’s about honoring the culture we’re building, and the nurse within each of us who first answered the call to care.
This year, let’s be intentional. Create moments that recognize not only hard work, but growth, resilience, and heart. Workshops. Wellness boosts. Recognition that feels real, not routine.
And while you’re lifting others up, take a breath to lift yourself, too. We managers are nurses first, and that spirit still leads the way. Nurse leadership isn’t always loud, but it shapes the places we work—and the ones we leave better.
Let’s make this week a true reflection of who we are: a community that lifts, leads, and leans in.
Happy Nurses Week, leaders. You’re making a difference—every day.
