Team TNB is honored to be reporting live from the ANCC Magnet/Pathway conference in New Orleans. Our first day was marked by excitement and inspiration. The conference kicked off with a lively press conference featuring Sir Saint and the New Orleans Saints cheerleaders.

IV Solutions Shelf Life Extended |
You know what’s really scary this Halloween? The prospect of running out of IV solutions. Fortunately, as we reported Monday, Baxter should resume distribution in a few weeks, but there’s more good news. The company received FDA approval to extend the shelf life of more than 50 IV and irrigation products by a year. Other updates include completion of a temporary bridge for transit and supplementing products from nine other plants to stabilize supply levels.

Halloween Safety Tips |
It’s not the most dangerous day of the year—that’s July 4—but Halloween is certainly among the most dangerous days for kids. The Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that ER departments treat an average 3,200 injuries related to Halloween each year. Half are related to pumpkin carving, but 1 in 4 occur during decorating
or tripping on costumes while trick-or-treating. Check out the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ safety tips and these reminders from an ER pediatrician.

There are those jobs that you are jumping for joy when you get the offer. Onboarding is dreamy. You can’t believe your luck in landing such an amazing job!
Unfortunately, the honeymoon phase often ends, and the reality that sets in can be scary. Leaders and colleagues are not who you thought they were. Working conditions are toxic. Your dream job is actually… a nightmare.
What can you do to escape your professional horror story?
Don’t take immediate action. Rash decisions usually aren’t good ones. Take some time to plan your next move.
Practice self-reflection. Consider what is contributing to your feelings of uncertainty and if there is anything you can adjust to shift your perspective.
Speak with leaders. Sometimes there is a mismatch of expectations that causes conflict.
Start looking for a new thing. If this job is not for you, start looking for your next job. Keep your current position as long as possible, because it is often easier to get a job when you already have a job.
