Woman Charged, Denied Bond for Pretending To Be a Nurse in Eight States
|
|
|
A woman has been charged with stealing a Florida nurse’s identity and using the nurse’s license number to care for eight people with developmental disabilities in Georgia. Corissa Laws, who was denied bond, admitted to practicing as a nurse in several other states: Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Florida, New Mexico, Georgia. She also has a warrant for her arrest in Vermont and is pending charges in Florida.

How To Combat First-Year Nurse Burnout
|

A study found that up to 60% of nurses decide to leave their first full-time job before their first year is over. Researchers seeking to combat this burnout have identified several strategies: providing residency programs and mentoring opportunities and changing workplace culture. Creating a network of experienced nurses and implementing
mental health support programs could also help curb a poor first-year working experience that leads to turnover.

Woman Resisting TB Treatment Finally Arrested
|
|
|
A Washington state woman with tuberculosis has avoided treatment and isolation for over a year. She had been under surveillance once to get her safely into custody for treatment, but she left her home and went to a local casino. Last month, a judge issued the 17th order for the woman to be involuntarily detained. She has finally been arrested and will be treated in jail.
