Good Morning, Readers! |
Summer is nearly upon us, and if you have heat intolerance like I do, you may not be super thrilled about itβ¦
Two of my favorite things to help keep cool during the summer are a neck fan and a cooling towel. They are game changers, especially when used together!
And of course, donβt forget your sunscreen! βοΈ

Benefits of Workplace Gratitude |
Gratitude practices, such as naming three things youβre thankful for each morning, can help ease stress, foster resilience, and improve well-being, especially during difficult times. Simple actions like thank-you notes, peer support programs, and public recognition are easy ways to regularly incorporate gratitude in the workplace. These efforts can boost morale, connection, and engagementβparticularly for frontline workers who face ongoing stress. Of course, small acts of gratitude shouldnβt replace fair treatment or systemic change, making it important to still advocate for safe conditions and respect alongside appreciation.

New ACIP Members |
HHS Secretary RFK Jr. appointed eight new members to the CDCβs vaccine advisory panel ACIP, including figures controversial during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as Dr. Robert Malone and Dr. Martin
Kulldorff. Critics, including vaccine experts, warn the new appointees lack technical vaccine expertise and could undermine public trust. Kennedy, who also dismissed all 17 prior members, said the move is meant to restore faith in vaccines by demanding stricter data review. Concerns are mounting that states or institutions may form independent advisory committees in response.

Small Food Swaps for Healthier Planet |
Food choices significantly affect climate change, with a third of global greenhouse gas emissions stemming from food systems. Diets high in meatβespecially from ruminant animals like cowsβproduce four times more emissions than
plant-based diets. Processed animal products and rice also have large climate footprints, while plant proteins and diverse grains are more sustainable. Choosing local, organic, and in-season produce, minimizing processed foods, and reducing food waste are key ways to lower environmental impact. Even small swaps, like replacing beef with chicken or almonds with peanuts, can make a difference.

Mystery Diagnosis Minute |
Hey everyone! In June, weβre recognizing three important healthcare awareness months: Alzheimerβs, brain health, and PTSD.Β
Todayβs mystery diagnosis is another disease which can affect the brain, as well as the spinal cord and optic nerves.
🧠This disease is chronic in nature and causes widespread inflammation, which disrupts how nerve impulses are sent and received by different areas in the body.Β
🧠 Symptoms can range from confusion and memory problems to more severe and debilitating symptoms like seizures, psychiatric complications, and even losing the senses of smell and taste when the brain or cranial nerves become involved.Β
🧠 While there is no cure for this disease, exacerbations of symptoms can be managed with corticosteroids.Β
