Strengthening Communication |
Could AI strengthen communication channels between physicians and nurses? Stanford Hospital is using AI to analyze various real-time data to
predict when a patient's health might decline. When deterioration signs are detected, the AI will alert the clinical team to get doctors and nurses to communicate and potentially intervene sooner, preventing the patient from needing ICU care. This model has decreased deterioration events for patients at high risk by 10.4%, and researchers are working on
improving the model to prevent staff from getting too many alerts that aren't accurate.

A Strike for Sault |
Nurses at MyMichigan Medical Center Sault in Michigan are on a five-day strike to protest low wages, lack of staff, and unfair treatment by the hospital administration. The nurses' union says the hospital isn't offering competitive wages or benefits, making it difficult to keep nurses staffed. The hospital says their offer is fair and includes a raise and benefits package. Negotiations are ongoing.

The White House released a new US Global Health Security Strategy to improve global preparedness for pandemics and
health threats. Building on lessons from Covid-19, the strategy focuses on three main goals: strengthening health security capacities in partner countries, catalyzing political commitment and financing for global health security, and increasing linkages between health security programs and other complementary programs.
