Nurses have plenty to offer after they retire, especially when mentoring younger workers. And Jefferson Health in Philadelphia is taking advantage of that fact. The system launched a Nurse Emeritus program in November 2022 with five retired registered nurses who returned as in-person mentors to nurses new to the practice. The program has expanded into multiple
departments and increased the number of qualified mentors.
