Trade association AMGA and consulting firm Korn Ferry surveyed some 217,000 RNs across 4,000 US locations about their pay rate, revealing relatively small variations in the average hourly
base pay rate across 16 specialties. The survey found hospital-based nurses generally receive higher wages, with rates ranging from $41.01 (specialty med-surg) to $45.70 (OR/pre-op/recovery). In clinic/ambulatory care, rates range from $39.21 (primary care) to $41.75 (surgical), and nurses in home health and hospice/palliative care earn $41.59 and $42.48, respectively. Boot-shaped inhalers have a hidden environmental cost we seldom consider. For a propellant, the little life-savers employ hydrofluorocarbon gas, a greenhouse gas up to 3,000 times more potent than carbon. (Check here to find out where else you can find this propellant…) Unfortunately, dry powder inhalers are an imperfect, pricier substitute, with some patients finding them difficult to use or unpleasant to taste. Researchers are looking at ways to make metered-dose inhalers more climate-friendly, and in the meantime, healthcare providers can discuss with their patients their actual inhaler needs and proper use.

Ultra-Processed Death |
A comprehensive review involving nearly 10 million individuals has established a clear link between excessive consumption of ultra-processed foods—such as frozen meals, sugary cereals, and
fast food—and over 30 adverse health conditions, from heart disease to anxiety to diabetes to premature death. These foods typically contain chemically altered ingredients and lack whole foods, contributing to health risks. While more research is needed to establish causation, there's growing evidence supporting the benefits of swapping ultra-processed foods for healthier options. Look here for some healthier options.
