More Nurses Honored at AACN |
We told you Tuesday about two nurses honored at the Association of Critical-Care Nurses conference, but they weren’t the only ones receiving awards. Linda Harrington, a leading expert in interactive design informatics and AI, received the 2025 Marguerite Rodgers
Kinney Award for a Distinguished Career, and Mary Beth Flynn Makic was honored as the 2025 Distinguished Research Lecturer. A posthumous AACN Pioneering Spirit Award also went to Dr. Christopher W. Bryan-Brown for his role in shaping today’s critical care medicine.

A Cautionary Tale for Supplements |
Over half of American adults report using supplements, with a growing number of them seeking out non-pharmaceutical options to manage mental health issues like depression and anxiety. But with supplements far less regulated than medications, it’s definitely buyer beware. Check out the personal story of one woman who was wary of psychiatric drugs, so she tried St. John’s wort instead to manage her depression symptoms. “Supplements made me lose my mind,” she wrote.

New Pain Management Guidelines |
Getting an IUD is no big deal for some folks, but it can be extremely painful for many others. The same goes for a range of other gynecologic procedures, from endometrial and cervical biopsies to hysteroscopy. Now, one year after the CDC issued its own guidelines recommending lidocaine for IUD insertion, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has issued guidance on pain management for uterine and cervical procedures occurring in the office.

Attract Opportunities That Match Your Worth |
In today's competitive healthcare landscape, your nursing expertise is invaluable and in high demand. But is your digital presence working as hard as you do during a 12-hour shift? An optimized Indeed profile can help connect you with roles that align with your skills, experience, and career aspirations.
Three quick updates can improve your results:Â
First, add your salary requirements to filter out positions that don't respect your financial worth.Â
Second, showcase your specialized certifications and clinical experience to attract targeted opportunities.Â
Third, make yourself "Searchable on Indeed" so the right employers can discover you before you even click "apply."
Think of your Indeed profile as your job search assistant! Job seekers who apply to healthcare jobs are 25% more likely to be hired in healthcare if they have at least one occupation or preferred occupation in their Indeed profile.1 This means more quality opportunities coming to you, saving you valuable time in your job search.
Healthcare is constantly evolving. Your career options should too! Visit the Careers in Care nursing hub today to refresh your profile and let better nursing opportunities find their way to you.

Your Nervous System Knows: Start Listening |
Nursing conditions can keep us stuck in survival: hypervigilant during high-stakes shifts, then crashing with exhaustion when the adrenaline fades. This isn’t personal failure, it’s our nervous system doing its job under pressure.
Our bodies carry the imprint of long shifts, systemic injustices, and moral injury. Over time, we can lose touch with what safety feels like. But healing isn’t just about rest, it’s about reconnection.
Start with this:
Get curious about your body’s cues. Does tension spike before rounds? Do you disassociate during staff meetings? That’s data.
Practice grounding. Even 30 seconds of intentional breathing can shift your state, or try this free 3-minute exercise for extra support.Â
Healing doesn’t happen in isolation. Regulation is relational, so find your community.
