The recent controversy at ChatGPT maker OpenAI nearly put two AI executives into the hands of Microsoft, already a driving force behind generative AI in healthcare. Experts fear we’re headed to a “Coke or Pepsi moment” in which tech juggernauts, notably Microsoft and Google, will monopolize the industry and gain the power to control
generative AI in healthcare. The situation is reminiscent of how Epic and Oracle came to own most of the electronic health record market, allowing them to set prices and steer the industry’s evolution.

Raising Awareness on Your Risk |
The CDC is rolling out a campaign to raise the public’s awareness of prediabetes. It is encouraging people to take a 1-minute test to learn their risk of prediabetes, which affects one in three US adults, 81% of whom are unaware. The test is a simple questionnaire that spits out a prediabetes risk score (0–10, with 10 being the highest risk) based on your age, BMI, race, and other factors.

It’s been two years since Omicron emerged as the dominant Covid-19 variant, and it continues to be an “evolutionary marvel,” possibly able to become a permanent fixture in our lives like influenza. Though we now have a vaccine for Omicron XBB, a new mutation, JN.1, is growing quickly in France and is the most resistant version of
