Democratic representatives in the House have introduced the Training Future Nurses Act to expand clinical opportunities for graduate nursing students. Democratic senators have also introducedΒ it into the US Senate. The act creates a funding stream for hospitals to partner with other hospitals, nursing schools, and community-based care settings to address costs related to clinical training for graduate nursing students. The funds help hospitals accept Advanced Practice Registered Nursing students to enable them to train and work in rural, underserved, and geographically diverse communities.Β

Unionization in Washington
Confluence Health Hospital Mares Campus nurses have voted to unionize and join theΒ Washington State Nurses Association. The plan has been in the works for months, as nurses have had enough wage issues, floating between other facilities, and
management structure changes. The hospital recently eliminated its COO position and enacted a hiring freeze for most nonclinical roles. The union will now work with the Confluence nurses to identify bargaining priorities and develop new contracts with the hospital.Β
